Over the years Mystic Sisters have become a household name. Jayshree
Mallaya and her sister Mellissa Mallaya Pandya started Mystic Sisters in
1993. Jayshree was in her 3rd year of her law studies when her father
Rejji Mallaya suddenly passed away. “My life was turned upside down. I
could not imagine a life without my father. We shared a very close and
special bond”, Jayshree says. “The 2 years that followed my fathers
death were very difficult years for me and my mum & siblings. The
true strength of a persons character comes through adversity and being
true to yourself. When you are faced with a mountain, climb it. Don’t
get weighed down by every difficulty you faced with.
“In 1993, I invited my sister Mellissa to start Mystic Sisters with me. I
had to stop my law studies and I found myself in a new world providing
accurate advice, information and solutions to my clients. In that moment
I let go of a childhood dream of becoming a lawyer and fully stepped
into an exciting world of my intuition.
26 years later it has truly been a blessing to me. Over the years I have
met many clients who have become part of our mystic family. They have
shared with me how, we have inspired and empowered them to make changes
in their lives that has helped them overcome their challenges and become
a better version of themselves. I love the feedback I receive from my
clients. It’s good to know that what I do in my career everyday helps
people in their difficult situations. The accuracy and confidentiality
one receives during intuitive sessions with me comes from a combination
of my intuition and intelligence as well as through years of experience.
“
My grandfather Mallaya Rapeti was a highly intuitive man. He was a
businessman and a philanthropist. He arrived in South Africa from India
in 1905 with his family when he was 5 years old. My father used to tell
me that I inherited my grandfathers strong intuition. Many people have
asked me where did I get my intuition from. My grandfather passed away
when I was a month old and I treasure this special gift he has bestowed
upon me.
When we started Mystic Sisters, my sister and I attended various shows
and fairs in Durban and around South Africa visiting beautiful cities
like Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pietermaritzburg, Pretoria, both the North
and South coast of Durban. It gave us a good opportunity to travel and
get to know our country, it’s people and all its beautiful provinces. In
1997 Mellissa and I co-wrote our first book Palmreading and Positive
Thinking. It was one of Exclusive Books (a bookstore in South Africa)
bestsellers. It’s currently out of print but we are planning a new
edition of it. We have been very involved in community work and we often
host wellness events for youth and our elders.
We then opened our offices on Florida Road in 1997. In 2000 Jayshree was
invited to open Mystic Sisters at Gateway Theater of Shopping in
Umhlanga Rocks.
In 2001 we hosted a radio show on East Coast Radio, Lotus Fm and we were
regular guest on various radio shows as well as numerous tv shows and
magazines such as Cosmopolitan , Fair Lady, True Love. Jayshree and
Mellissa had a popular weekly column in the Sunday Tribune newspaper.
In 2004 Jayshree was invited to open her restaurant in Ushaka Marine
World. Owning a restaurant at a world class theme park overlooking the
Indian Ocean was a memorable experience for me. “I often hosted
community workshops for single moms as well as children from children’s
homes and underprivileged schools to spend a day at the Marine theme
park. Together with UShaka Marine World the children enjoyed a day at
the beach, aquarium, a dolphin show, motivational talks and a meal at my
restaurant. For many children this was a first time experience and they
were absolutely thrilled with the experience and so many things we take
for granted everyday,” says Jayshree.
Mellissa and Jayshree opened a wellness spa (Be Pampered Spa) in
Westville. ‘ The wellness spa was part of our giving back to our clients
as we found that many of our clients were leading stressful lives.
Wellness was a big part of our lives as my father Rejji Mallaya was a
positive thinker and taught us to focus on wellbeing. We believe in the
idea that our community needed to make wellbeing a part of their lives.
So we offered affordable spa packages so clients could feel relaxed and
reinvigorated. Our most popular spa packages has been our Buy One Get
One Free 3 hour spa packages. “
In 2012 Jayshree’s sister Mellissa married Paresh and relocated to his
country in the UK. Jayshree and Mellissa have been working independently
since then. If you would like to contact Mellissa email her at mellissamallaya@hotmail.com
In 2014 Jayshree received the Legend Of the Year Award for her community
service and in 2018 she received the most influential business women of
the year award.
“I love traveling, “says Jayshree. “Currently I have visited 14
different countries. Its fascinating to learn about people and different
cultures as well as issues that people are challenged with and
solutions to overcome their challenges. It is my passion to travel the
world guiding individuals, groups and businesses to discover their
ultimate purpose.
Recently Jayshree cofounded Over the Walls Together Foundation with
lyricist Winn Coleman from USA. This is a non profit organisation they
established in 2017. Winn and I share the same vision and we believe in
the importance of community wellbeing, individual wellbeing and family
wellbeing which is much needed in our world. The name Over The Walls
Together is very special to us as we see problems we face as “walls” we
put around us. We believe that when we give support to each other, work
together, we can overcome our challenges. Our foundation creates a
unique platform which brings together lyrics, music and life skills to
inspire and empower people both young and old to believe in themselves,
come together with right minded people to initiate positive, powerful
change not only in their own lives but in the lives of people around
them. We use a combination of rap and song to help you tell your story
and not only to be heard but to give others who are struggling the hope
and knowledge to overcome the problems they face. We are now integrating
hip hop rap with emotional and mental health strategies to help people
understand themselves better and get over their walls. We are currently
working on a series of positive and inspiring songs to motivate and
inspire us in our day to day life.
My mission and purpose in life has taken me through a myriad of life
experiences and brought me further on my souls journey. My passion to
help myself and others grow both personally, professionally and
spiritually by using effective intuitive solutions to create a life they
want. Working with me on a regular basis helps you strengthen and
develop your intuition. Clients have a choice of an in-person session or
a telephone session where they can be 1000’s of miles away or near me.
I am thankful for so many blessings in my life. My message to women out
there.”Embrace your unique talents even if it’s different from others
around you. Never be afraid to be who you are. Embrace your feminine
energy and create a life you want.”
